Mendihuaca: where the Sierra meets the sea.

The river

The Mendihuaca comes down from the Sierra Nevada and runs right past the cabins. We have direct access to the water, so you can cool off at any time of day. Upstream, a 20-minute walk away, is the Poza Encantada. Downstream, another 20 minutes, the river meets the Caribbean Sea.

The beach

Mendihuaca beach is 1.7 km away. It is a long, open beach with the Sierra behind it. The river mouth, where fresh water meets salt water, is where we most like to watch the sunset.

Guachaca and Tayrona

Guachaca is the nearest village: a fishing and farming town with shops, restaurants and the bus stop. Tayrona National Park is a few minutes away; from here you can arrange the park visit, a day on a yacht around the bays, and also the trip to Ciudad Perdida (the Lost City).

How to get here

1. From Santa MartaAt the Santa Marta market, take a bus going to Palomino along the Troncal del Caribe. Just over an hour. Ask to stop at the Poza Encantada entrance, past Guachaca.
2. From the roadWalk 10 minutes along the main trail, or take a mototaxi to the hostal for COP 5,000. If in doubt, message us and we send you the pin on Maps.
3. From Simón Bolívar airportAbout 55 km. We can arrange a transfer.
